the queer community Vancouver 1990s

the 1990s was when the queer communities began to be represented in the mainstream and becoming more intersectional.

not only did the Vancouver Angles paper change from “gay and lesbian” to include bisexual and finally transgender. from lesbigay to the LGBT and LGBTQ2 acronyms.

but the community issues of ethnicity from racism to fetish to working together for rights well. continues to 2019.

women’s bodies, health care and equality rights remained issue across ethnicity and sexuality despite the Canada Charter of Rights.

the queer community was out in more than the major cities – the Attic Cabaret in Langley opened and closed in a few short months.

1990s Iceland and Norway led the way in marriage recognition, while Australia and Canada allowed gays and lesbians to serve in the military and with marriage recognition the responsibilities of divorce. AIDs and genocide oppression continued in much of the world.

In Canada, Joshua Birch won the military service, while Egan and Nesbit won the survivor benefits. Brian Mossop lead the way for Federal Government equal employment benefits.

by 2004 Angles ended with over 900 named of volunteers listed on the back page, across the span of Gay and Lesbian, to the lesbigay 90s to LGBT to LGBTQ2 in 2019.
