The Heart Beats: Lust, Love, Loss

“Love, Elvis” 2005 CD review: EIN’s “Lust, Elvis” in case anyone has forgotten was inspired by BMG’s 2005 release ‘Love, Elvis’.

Obviously not aimed at the Elvis collector, but rather the general public and there is no doubt that we do need to see this kind of mainstream Elvis compile in our local music stores – and with its striking new cover design it looks just fine.

One of the earliest Elvis releases to use the re-mastering of Vic Anesini the audio quality was excellent and the 24 track selection of Elvis’ very best emotional love songs will hardly disappoint.

By why do these never feature a couple of “unknown” gems like ‘Any Day Now’, ‘Power Of My Love’, or ‘True Love Travels On A Gravel Road’?

Tracklist: Love, Elvis

“Lust, Elvis” –

http://www.elvisinfonet.com/cd_lustelvis.html

The unreleased CD: RCA have regularly released their Elvis “love songs” compilations (see below) and while there is a positive reason to have these kind of CDs in local record shops, Elvis Presley wasn’t always about love and, in the fifties more importantly, he was far more about lust!

In the 1950s’ Elvis was basically too damn sexy for mainstream TV, yet 82% of the US viewing audience couldn’t help but watch! The battle for media censorship struggled while Elvis, seemingly unintentionally, kicked down the door for everyone to follow. American youth would never be the same, & the rest of the world would follow.

Elvis was just a natural great-looking sex-god, oozing LUST and surely that deserves a CD worth of celebration.

So here is the new potential SONY CD “Lust, Elvis (Play it dirty)” as suggested by EIN, play it at home to the partner you desire.

Tracklist “Lust, Elvis” (Play it dirty)”
1. Such A Night
2. Give Me The Right
3. One Night of Sin
4. Baby, Let’s Play House
5. Money Honey
6. Baby, What Do You Want Me To Do
7. It Feels So Right
8. Little Sister
9. High Heel Sneakers
10. Trouble
11. Let Yourself Go
12. Down In The Alley
13. I Want You With Me
14. Fever
15. Anyway You Want Me
16. Shake, Rattle and Roll
17. Blue Christmas (“Play it dirty” ’68 Special version)
18. Burning Love
19. If You Talk In Your Sleep
20. Power Of My Love
21. Relax
22. Reconsider Baby

Then…. there is the last beat  the achiest of the breakiest
the loss

Dixie Locke’s Prom Date – Elvis missed doing a concert to take her.

The Hayride Radio star meets the middle class June Juanico

Newly moved into the middle class Audubon drive house with his parents, the young star visits June often, including bringing his parents to meet hers.

Col Parker had bigger than radio plans for His Boy and getting serious was not in the career plan.

June accompanied Elvis on parts of his tours and tried to blend in the background. Engagement rumours hit the media.

June despaired of any kind of convention relationship and broke up with Elvis the week he bought Graceland.

National Celebrity Elvis dating local Memphis TV Star Anita Wood.

Anita was the last Gladys approved woman, she celebrated the only Christmas at Graceland with Gladys and stood by Gladys when Elvis went into the army.

She waited for him and waited and then…. she found Priscilla’s letters and made a decision for herself.

Soldier Elvis met Priscilla just 6 weeks before he returned to the USA and Nancy Sinatra’s greeting.

At home in Memphis – Anita Woods was waiting.

Elvis couldn’t make up his mind, so Anita made the choice simpler.

At first, Priscilla visited and then she moved to Memphis into Vernon’s house officially.

Col Parker decided it was time for Elvis to marry.

So did Priscilla’s father…

1967 they married and Lisa Marie was born the following year.

Nancy Sinatra threw the baby shower, while making Speedway and time with Elvis; who had already romanced his co-star and Frank’s gal, Juliet Prowse during GI Blues…

Eventually, Separate Ways because being always on the mind is insufficient.

Priscilla’s second round of divorce settlement forced Elvis to sell RCA his back-catalog up to that year.

Elvis and The Beauty Queen – Miss Tennessee Linda Thompson

Linda Thompson is the Good Girlfriend in the Elvis Fan Mythos.

Linda blended well in Elvis’ world – she had a raunchy sense of humour which worked well with the MM Guys and she nurtured both Lisa Marie and Elvis.

Linda’s brother Sam joined the MM and was still with Elvis after Linda was not.

Linda briefly dated a pianist in Elvis’ band, resulting in Elvis literally pulling the instrument’s plug on stage.

Linda later married the currently tabloid beleaguered Bruce Jennings (patriarch of the Kardashian Tabloid Family), divorcing him and then marrying Canadian composer David Foster.

Linda is an award winning songwriter.
