Humour – it lifts and separates

Given the events of yesterday, I am hesitant to be on the newsfeed.

One of the last things that I saw last night was a Boston graphic showing a man on the pavement because one of the dead was his girlfriend that he was going to propose to.

The graphic was a gross violation of his privacy and prostituting his pain to moralize about insensitivity and authenticity of people and their emotional capacity and expression.

There’s something about dignity that is missing from the public conversation of trying to control or exploit people.

There is no question that losing someone is painful and those who act like they are the only one or only a few people know pain is one of the most callous ideas being floated out there.

The part of my brain that is overwhelmed by shock and numbness as a given of my circumstances prevents me from reacting to this lasted Terrorist Attack – because no matter who it turns out to be – anyone who uses violence to make whatever point they think they are making – is a terrorist.

Whether is it directed at society, a group or an individual.

terrorism is about what the emotional impact is – control through fear and threats and actually carrying out said threats.

The 2 most Iconic Television shows of the 1950s family sitcoms

I Love Lucy vs The Honeymooners.

When Ricky raised his hand and Lucy cringed in physical and audible distress. the audience laughed – partly because of the physical humour and partly nervousness

that show validated domestic violence

That in real life, Ricky beat Lucy and made it a running gag in their reel life

is horrifying to me and has been since the 1980s when I was a teenager watching the shows in syndication

Whereas, in The Honeymooners – Ralph’s fist was ineffectually raised as he uttered his catch phrase: ONE OF THESE DAYS ALICE, blah blah moon.

Alice would then just stare at Ralph until he remembered who was the princess and who was the frog
