Farewell to the Mythbusters

mythbusters

Adam Savage – ‎Jamie Hyneman were The Mythbusters.

Originally the show was the two of them challenging Urban Legends with science – to which, they each had a different approach – which created a rather strained tone, as it was evident they didn’t like each other.

So part of the unintended bonuses of the show was showing people who to work together, in an exchange of disagreement and problem solving.

Eventually the show included a Junior Crew Cast, which made it a lot more funny and dissipated the Jamie/Adam tension.

So, they taught how to apply scientific methods, team work because that’s what teams are, people putting the project first, so a lot of interpersonal and professional skill building.

And they blew up a lot of things – and sometimes accidentally and those became safety method reinforcement. The Microwaved Baseball Size Gobstopper episode resulted in a permanent facial scar when the liquid explodes from an inside layer when the metal jaws chomped it.

but the best thing that they showed and demonstrated for people was other than binary zero sum hero heel dom/sub bipolar madness that has somehow become the new social norm.

Variable and options, there is almost never only one or the other.

Yes, Plausible, Probable, Possible, Improbable, Implausible, So Low as to No, Impossible. The Spectrum Range: Validity and Quality Assurance, eh?
