I used to suggest people wear queer symbol lapel pins in the 1990s, when most straights wouldn’t know them. It was a way to recognize each other.

But these days, having something to create a topic of common interest is the way to have a shared framework and common context to start conversations.

I have a vague plan to be a crazy cat lady with tats instead of cats.
