Expelling Senator Meredith would enter into a new frontier of accountability: If Senator Meredith is expelled for his sexual relationship with a teenager, it should send a dire warning to the rest of the Senate that standards of ethical behaviour expected of them on pain of potential expulsion may well be far more rigorous than what was accepted before

Agree with Nina.. High morals are important to the position..without morality..corruption is rampant…and reflects badly upon a nation and its people
  • Nina Tryggvason's profile photo
and Canada is a low corruption nation, eh.

if the senators and MPs were subject to the ethics of the public service that was imposed, none of them would have jobs and most of their behavior if done in the office instead of the House, would be grievances

migrants are one thing and refugee claimants another. I don’t think that Canada will be able to deem America a safe nation much longer.

baby got fed, a lifetime trauma… seriously?
  • Bill Luka's profile photo
The baby couldn’t get fed. She didn’t have kids of her own, so no milk. She’s a very disturbed person
  • Nina Tryggvason's profile photo
the baby is not going to remember it, until later in therapy when they can show the web link to their therapist… she gets suspended the the CBC ends with Gomeshi and ignores the bigger problem in the media culture
  • Bill Luka's profile photo
It doesn’t matter if the kid remembers it. The fact is that she was going to use someone else’s kid for her own gratification without the kid’s parent’s knowledge. That means she is a disturbed person….. and she admitted it in a public forum…. so not anything like Ghomeshi
  • Matt Alexander's profile photo
so if the baby won’t remember, is fair game?

given that male offenders towards babies, children and teenagers end up with parental rights? apparently it is in north america

why is she totally guilty in a non-sexual matter of conduct while male pedophiles and rapists get the benefit of the doubt to the point that victims are blamed owing to their clothes or proximity?

Matt Alexander's profile photo
I’m not sure what you are getting at or at all how that is related. You made the statement that somehow makes it ok if the baby won’t remember it. It’s not and it never will be.

how me the bruises” – do you understand that legal concept? usually it’s for car accidents and physical abuse.
your understanding of what I said depends on if you are trying to having a chat or just lecture me on morality, which way are you reading?

still not understanding your thought process or how you are drawing conclusions / parallels to general observations around sexual abuse. Stuck to the facts – she wrote a column about sticking her boobs into some stranger babies mouth. I find that pretty gross as a parent, if you don’t, that is your opinion. You seem to think it is less gross than raping. I do not disagree – but I’m not here to compare it to what is worse or to the many injustices of the world.

+Matt Alexander except that was the question that I asked, to put this into perspective. so I am not interesting in your idea of morality.
when men react to crimes by other men, then you get to comment on women.
  • Bill Luka's profile photo
So….. men do it too so we don’t have the right to complain when women do it? Wow, just wow
  • Nina Tryggvason's profile photo
No, that is not what I said, but assume and respond to me like your error is correct.
  • Bill Luka's profile photo
Ok. What is “when men react to crimes by other men, then you get to comment on women” mean in your reality then?
  • Nina Tryggvason's profile photo
You ignored the question posed to you and are responding to the discussion with the other guy, meanwhile playing oblivious to double standards. I shouldn’t have to explain the obvious.
he obvious.

  • Bill Luka's profile photo
You want to go way back to the beginning of this thread… ok.
If a man touches a woman’s breast it’s sexual, so then if she tries to get a baby to touch her breast when she has no milk for the baby, it’s sexual by definition. She confessed. If a man confessed to pedophillia I would be just as much against his actions as I am against hers. And you ignored my question to you
  • Nina Tryggvason's profile photo
no, I was waiting for a response so I could block you, knowing you’d continue to misconstrue, proving no point in talking to you, when all you want to do is talk in points to avoid dealing with context.

most cancers are environmental, so regulate industry and reduce cancers and respiratory diseases.

If only it were that simple
  • Nina Tryggvason's profile photo
it is partly that simple; regulate industry to deal properly with waste to not damage the environment that we eat, drink and breath – but also workplace safety standards for workers.
  • the rest of it is to not cave into religious nonsense and do the stem cell research, consider cannabis and other things that work, as well as LSD (non-cancer treatments) and not tweaks to change patents. medicine is about outcomes not profits.
