Epigenics and Socialized Trauma

Eugenics was the practice of genocide and forced sterilization of demographics deemed undesirable – it is directed, chosen and not natural selection.

(Clue: it was not just Nazi Germany)

Euthanasia is medical mercy one way and the social veneer another, eh.

Genetics is our specific heredity, and the patterns of genes

the generational cycle of famine and feast

we are what we ate, but also what our grandparents did

Lamarck had merit in the concepts of heredity and passing down traits and our genes turn off and on over our lifespan, so what offspring inherit depends on what was off/on at the time.

More than that, what experiences shape a person, and how they pass that on to offspring, by role model examples, by what words are told to follow (do as I say, not as I do); and what is conveyed about the larger world.

Populations with historic oppression and groups that can pass down experience – and the childhood experience too often confirms.

Families rise and fall and take civilization with them – what groups disband, or assimilate other groups, occupying niches and habitats.

Epigenetics – Wikipedia

Robin Holliday defined epigenetics as “the study of the mechanisms of temporal and spatial control of gene activity during the development of complex organisms.” Thus epigenetic can be used to describe anything other than DNA sequence that influences the development of an organism.

Epigenetics is the study of heritable changes in gene expression (active versus inactive genes) that does not involve changes to the underlying DNA sequence — a change in phenotype without a change in genotype — which in turn affects how cells read the genes.
