Elvis Presley just wanted to be an all around entertainer – singing on record/radio as well as concerts and acting in movies. Television was something for promotional, more people seeing you with less effort.
Some of the public wanted him to be a rebel, he was different, but he wanted to belong to the establishment.
For Elvis, it became why his flashy dressed star rose so fast in the 1950s and burned so deep in the 1968 Black Leather Special and shone on the White Eagle Jumpsuit in 1973 and Inca Sundial Suit tailspin in 1977 .
Elvis Presley caught the American imagination on fire and he inverted the social structure by putting Women’s Sexuality on display.
In October 1956, Elvis was driving around Memphis and pulled into a gas station. He attracted attention and the gas station guy got threatening and ended up with a black eye.

Or the businessman should have played it into an endorsement, got a picture with Elvis and put it on the wall. Whatever, emotions and shortsightedness.
For Col. Parker this was a PR problem, not a difficult one to spin, his motto was any time you get press, it’s good as long as your name is spelled correctly.
For parents, it was a “think of the children” .. mostly teenaged girls running around the courtroom trying to see Elvis.
