I have been saved twice in my life by the Gas Man – the Anesthesiologist – first, when I was born, because the umbilical cord was around my neck. I was born purple, and the doctor panicked and the gas man jumped up and got the cord from around my neck.
The second time was as an adult, it was his profession, he worked in a Seattle Hospital Trauma Ward; and he has since retired to Cambodia. He had been a Vietnam Vet.
I was in Vancouver and frankly I still owe him a Chocolate Chip Chipotle Cheesecake with an oreo cookie crust; but he retired before I was able to undertake such a 3 hour drive.

You will remember more if you hand write it. Listen, write down the talking points.
If you are given a hand out, make notes on it, that explain more or clarify better.
If you have to summarize a large document down to a smaller one, just use the first sentence of each paragraph.

“You were born with potential.
You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness.
You were born with wings.
You are not meant for crawling, so don’t.
You have wings.
Learn to use them and fly.”― Rumi

Summer 1985, I wrote at least a poem a day, sometimes I would press the original into the wood of the rough hewn desk, it would last only a few days, before rain and moisture made the surface swell again, as if the poem had never been there.
sometimes, other people left verses of their own, or images, initials or sometimes, a comment on my verse. Real Life Performance Poetry.

“The growing mobilization against Harper: Not your ordinary revolution
Scientists. Doctors. Nuclear engineers. Academics. Researchers. Stephen Harper has a big problem.
He has ticked them all off. And they are not suffering their grievances or concerns for informed, fact-based public policy and decision-making, the environment, the health of Canada’s most vulnerable citizens and the safety of all of us in silence.
No. Instead they are protesting, marching, disrupting government news conferences. They are mobilizing.
Their website notes that the only specific evidence “Mr. Harper wants the public to know about is that which supports his political objectives and ideology. That’s not science, that’s propaganda.”

Compassion: This incredible photo marks the end of Matador Torero Alvaro Munera’s career. He collapsed in remorse mid-fight when he realized he was having to prompt this otherwise gentle beast to fight. He went on to become an avid opponent of bullfights. Even grievously wounded, the bull did not attack Munera. May we all support the welfare of non-human species.

communicating, confirmed understanding, building a body of knowledge, applied learning, how we know what we know, by building on what has come before, the reason we learn history is so that we group up and not repeat it, and it is often generations of teaselling apart the threads and twine of the tapestries of history, looms and the fates.
Great illustration of how stereotyping works from cartoonist Randall Munroe of xkcd.

folk tales, the stories about people, by people, told to their children to safeguard them in the world, mother to children mostly….don’t trust things that talk but shouldn’t, don’t stray too afar from the path, beware of toadstools, never annoy witches and always take the humblest of the choices offered, wood, stone, metals, gems, all that glitters is generally a trap to a gilded golden cage… plus, dealing with trolls, elves, fairy fey folks….
I expect it’s partly a holdover from when when we were not alone as a species, but when all the homos left one standing in the niche, with only the more distant relatives Apes, Chimps, Orangutans and baboons as the example of the apes, with the monkeys to lemurs rounding out the niche – and bonoos, a variation on the chip, but limited to an island range, shows how geography plays into species specializing and niche clearing…combined with the pagan animal spirit derived religions, morphing into the Egyptian human-hybrids, and later werewolf, skinwalker myths that people or storytellers made up.

I worked in the mailroom, upstairs, hidden from the public. Part of my job however, was front counter relief. Every panel actually happened, several times a day I might add, except the last one. It became how you viewed the general public after a while.

When you look at this graphic, it may look like the Fraser Institute is on the right side and the CCPA is on the left side. In actuality, the CCPA is on the side of evidence, and the Fraser Institute is on the wrong side, but with conviction and money.
The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives produces serious academic research. Critical policy analysis does not equate with political activism, nor is it “biased” or “one-sided.” Rather than expressing a partisan bias when it challenges the policies of this current government, it points out inconvenient facts about the real world that reveal the emperor has no clothes. Of course it’s obvious that practice is going to make the emperor angry, hence the current attack on them.
The Fraser Institute, on the other hand, are purveyors of dreadful junk research
I remember being blown away by this scene when I was a kid, but now. I am like. Where is the shelving and bay-shelf-box numbers. there is no way anything gets lost.
The boss was a big fan of this and I pointed out to him that he missed out on the actual premise. There are three groups you have to make happy 1. customers 2. suppliers and 3. employees. Everyone can only count to 2 because they start with themselves, eh?

So…do people still get diagnosed with Napoleon Complex or is he now too dated a reference?
Dear people of privilege, you do not have less because others are getting the same as you, so stop grasping for victim-hood you are not entitled, you have no right to bully or dominate without actual cause, not because of the coloration of your carcass.
Being bothered by that other people exist is a mental illness, most often correlated with religion.
