Vikings: Warriors and ShieldMaidens

I have a joke about how the world feared Viking fighters without realizing that it was a summer job to keep the men out from underfoot of the women.

Recent reviews of Viking graves show that a good portion of raiders were actually women.

It was interesting to me, reading newspaper comics in the 70s.

Andy Capp beat his wife, who sometimes beat him.

The Lockhorns were aptly named.

While Hagar was fierce, Helga was never afraid of him.
