RnR: Elvis vs Roy Orbison

After Roy Orbison heard Elvis, he headed to Memphis to see Sam Phillips at Sun Records.

Part of why Sam ended up selling Elvis to RCA was the flood of new talent and his limited distribution.

they did record some of the same songs including both doing Ray Charles songs

one sad thing that Roy and Elvis had in common was an indoor waterfall

Jungle Room fountain

the back brick wall is actually a water feature

Elvis had his turned off after Roy’s caused a house fire, killing his family while Roy was on tour in England.

I attended an impersonator show they never gave, a Buddy Holly, an Elvis and a Roy Impersonator.

I got to meet Red Robinson and he introduced me to Roy’s brother Sam.
