Canada’s Olympic Sweetheart: Karen Magnussen vs Worker’s Compensation

Karen Magnussen was exposed to ammonia in 2011 and her life has been changed more than winning Olympic Gold did.

She is trapped between civil action against the rec center – and really – how do you compensate someone for loss of a career and enjoyment of life? – and the British Columbia Worker’s Compensation system.

I wonder how the suicide rate of worker compensation claimants is against those of soldiers compares?

Injuries that are not shovel/physical labour related have difficulties being measured and deal with, despite obvious physical, pyschological and other life difficulties.

the so called corrective processes seem more further injury than salt in the wounds.

I have to wonder what hope is there for us who are mere mortals compared to one of Canada’s few international celebrities…….
