When I was first diagnosed with diabetes in 1998, my taste buds shifted a bit from sweet to hot.
Eating hot sauces and chilies triggers a lot of the same reward chemicals as eating sweets and chocolate.
Later in life, I started using chili pepper creams for topical application for sore muscles and nerve pain in my jaw and feet.
My jaw because of having been in several low speed car accidents and nerve pain in my feet as the start of diabetic complications.
Now that I have lost 155 pounds, I find it’s easier to walk and the tingling and nerve pain is gone. I stopped wearing socks entirely and can wear normal socks rather than diabetic ones.
